Two Principal SmallCap Growth Funds Merge
Effective the close of business April 25, 2014, the Principal SmallCap Growth Fund II will be merged into the Principal SmallCap Growth Fund I. Emerald Asset Management, Inc. (Emerald) will be retained and added as a sub-advisor to the SmallCap Growth Fund I.
This action is intended to provide additional capacity and diversification to the SmallCap Growth Fund I.
Emerald will bring an intense, fundamental, bottom-up strategy to the portfolio, designed to identify unrecognized, under-researched, and under-valued growth opportunities. Emerald strives to construct portfolios that bear little resemblance to the broad market and that are comprised of companies the firm says it "strives to know better than anyone else." This will complement the existing co-sub-advisors, which provide the following traits:
- AllianceBernstein — hybrid quantitative/fundamental approach
- Columbus Circle Investors — discipline of positive surprise and positive momentum
- Brown Advisory — completely fundamental strategy
The SmallCap Growth Fund I may be appropriate for investors seeking long-term growth of capital.
