New Global Opportunities Fund aims for long-term growth of capital
Announcing the Principal Global Opportunities Fund designed to deliver long-term growth of capital. Part of the World Stock Morningstar category, the new Global Opportunities Fund leverages the global capabilities of Principal Global Investors and engages an approach with two distinct and complementary components:
- Unconstrained security selection — aiming to identify what management deems to be the best stock ideas and construct a diversified portfolio. The investment strategy is not benchmark-oriented and has the flexibility to invest in most countries or regions, regardless of market capitalization and/or equity style.
- Managed volatility — focusing on total volatility reduction and improved downside protection, not tracking error. Downside volatility is managed through a dynamic approach that favors less volatile segments of the market, while allowing portfolio managers to opportunistically take advantage of market extremes.
Leveraging global capabilities
A team co-led by Mustafa Sagun and Christopher Ibach, of Principal Global Investors, sub-advisor the Fund. The group has a decade of experience managing global equities portfolios, and manages over $48B1 in assets for some of the world's largest retirement and sovereign wealth funds.2
Principal Global Investors believes that, given the elevated level of macroeconomic risk today and for the foreseeable future, volatility management with an emphasis on long-term growth of capital is a credible approach for managing global equities over time.
